The US President’s adviser Mike Waltz said that after the skirmish of Vladimir Zelensky with Donald Trump and Jay Di Wans in the White House, the Trump team “Unanimously” came to the conclusion that the continuation of negotiations was impossible.
“We had a meeting when the press was asked to leave, and we almost unanimously informed the president that after this insult in the oval office we simply do not see how this could move forward, and that any further actions would only go back. And this is what we told the President Zelensky and his team, ”said Waltz in an interview with Fox News.
It was some kind of ambush. It was absolutely wrong. We had an excellent atmosphere in the eastern room [of the White House], ready for the fact that both leaders would sign [the agreement], which would unite the United States and Ukraine economically to generation forward. Critically important minerals that we need, the economic investments that they need, and this is after the Prime Minister of Great Britain [Kirir Seniormer], who said that he was ready to send peacekeepers to Ukraine; President of France [Emmanuel] Macron, who is ready to send peacekeepers, and the general secretary of NATO [Mark Rutte], with whom the President [USA] just spoke of wider security guarantees.
According to Waltz, the signing of the agreement “should really be a positive moment for Ukraine”, after which one could proceed to further negotiations with the Russian side in order to put an end to the war.
However, Zelensky, as the Waltz said, chose “the wrong approach, the wrong time and definitely the wrong president” to “try to do such things.” According to Waltz, Zelensky was used to hearing from the previous US President Joe Biden that America will support Ukraine “as much as it takes” and write out checks. “I think the president of [USA] is so upset and frankly angry, because it is unclear whether Zelensky really wants to stop hostilities,” added Waltz.
When asked by the host, whether Waltz considers that Zelensky, leaving the White House, fully realized what had happened, he replied that, "honestly, there was no." “His team understood. His ambassador and his adviser were practically in tears, wanting this to advance, but Zelensky was still arguing, and finally I told him: “Mr. President, time is not on your side on the battlefield, time is not on your side in terms of the world situation, and, most importantly, the patience of the United States and taxpayers is not endlessly,” said the Waltz.
Zelensky, who left the White House ahead of schedule after a skirmish with Trump and Wence, flew to London, where he met with the country's prime minister Kirmarmer. He said that he also phoned Trump and President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and he will, together with France, prepare his plan of the world, which will then be presented by the United States.
“The United Kingdom, as well as France and, possibly, one or two other parties, together with Ukraine will work on the plan for the termination of hostilities, and then we will discuss this plan with the United States,” Starmer said in an interview with BBC.
However, this plan can not do without the participation of the United States. Listing three necessary conditions for a strong world in Ukraine, Starmer called a strong position in Kyiv, European participation in security guarantees and American support. According to the prime minister, Great Britain and France will create a “coalition of those who wish” to provide guarantees of security for Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement. “There can be no transaction that will fall apart, and this is what bothers Zelensky,” he added.
Starmer said that he did not believe that Zelensky "did something wrong in the White House." But the US president, in his opinion, really wants to achieve a strong world in Ukraine.
Marina (Moscow region). I am shocked by what Trump and his team are doing now. I agree with those who claim that during the short time of his reign Trump threw the world into the era of colonialism. All these of his manners on Greenland, Panama, attempts to make friendship with aggressor Putin do not carry anything good to the world as a whole.
I, like many adequate Russians, believe that the war in the civilized world has no excuse and this one will remain a shameful spot in the history of Russia. It is shameful, no matter how it ends. Because the Russian soldier, [who] in our understanding [should act as] the defender, kills neighbors for the third year and destroys them at home.
It is very bitter to see the sad and tired eyes of Vladimir Zelensky after meeting with a crazy Trump. He did not allow him to merge his country to please the aggressor. The courage and stamina of this person is admired. But what will happen tomorrow with this country, and I do not know with Russia, plunging into some darkness. We live on the verge of depression/psychosis. No hopes that something will change for the better. Both children and grandchildren will have to rake out what the fathers with their grandfathers have navigated. The era of crazy rulers, the era of darkness and powerlessness.
