Anapa City Hall demanded 211 million rubles from tankers owners, due to the collapse of which there was a fuel oil spill in the Kerch Strait

The Anapa administration filed a lawsuit against the owners of the Volgonft-239 and Volgonft-212 tankers, who crashed in the Kerch Strait in December 2024. This was reported by the press service of the city hall.

The lawsuit was filed in the Arbitration Court of the Krasnodar Territory on March 7, it has not yet been accepted for production, Interfax clarifies. The defendants are Kama Shipping LLC and Volgatransneft CJSC.

The city hall stated that as a result of the collapse of tankers and the subsequent spill of fuel oil, "the natural environment was caused." The city hall requires the owners of tankers 211 million rubles.

“It is precisely such an amount that has already been paid for by the municipality under contracts for comprehensive measures to eliminate the consequences of emergencies. This amount is not final, and in the future the administration intends to increase the claims, ”the report said.

• In mid-December, two Russian tankers with oil products-Volgonft-212 and Volgonft-239 crashed in the Kerch Strait. According to emergency services, tankers in total transported about 9.2 thousand tons of fuel oil. In early January, the Morspass Saluzhba claimed that 2.4 thousand tons of oil products fell into the sea. Fuel oil polluted tens of kilometers of the coast in the Krasnodar Territory. Oil products are still fixed to now.
• The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov, said that the restoration of Anapa beaches after the mazut spill will begin only at the end of 2025. Previously, given the already cleaned areas of the beaches, it will be necessary to restore 280 hectares of the territory. To do this, you need about 840 thousand cubic meters of clean new sand - almost four times more than taken out. Kozlov added that the sand, which is now being cleaned, will not be returned to the beaches. He also reported that after the spill of fuel oil, 49 dead dolphins were discovered. At the same time, the final figures for the damage to the “animal world and natural ecosystems”, according to him, will be presented only after the liquidation of all the consequences of the accident.
