The cessation of the transmission of intelligence of the United States to Ukraine has become one of the reasons for the successful attack of Russian troops in the Kursk region in recent days, writes The New York Times. As Ukrainian fighters with the advanced told the publication, in this region the absence of intelligence became “especially problematic”.
A senior American military official also told reporters that the cessation of intelligence exchange caused damage to the Absuanistan ability to detect and attack Russian troops in the Kursk region.
The Time publication on March 8, citing a source in the office of Vladimir Zelensky, wrote that the absence of American intelligence, first of all, influenced the ability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Russia. “Not only in Kursk, we now have problems in the entire Russian territory,” said Time's interlocutor.
The Russian military began an active attack in the Kursk region at the end of last week. For March 8-9, they freed eight settlements: Loknya, Malaya Loknya, Cherkasy Porechnoye and Kositsa, Lebedevka, Viktorovka, Nikolaevka and Old Sorochina (for the whole of February the RF Armed Forces, they returned control only over five). According to the estimates of TASS, on the basis of the statements of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, in total, as of the evening of March 9, the Russian military freed 32 settlements in the Kursk region.
On Monday, March 10, the North Troops group announced that the “Russian flag” was erected in four more settlements. There is no reliable confirmation of this information yet.
The press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said on March 10 that he “has no doubt” in the complete restoration of control over the Kursk region, but he again refused to assume when this would happen. “In the Kursk region: of course, there are no deadlines there. Of course, our military is doing everything possible to clean our land from militants as soon as possible, ”he said at a briefing for the press.
US President Donald Trump on March 9 stated that he “almost stopped” the suspension of the exchange of intelligence with Ukraine. Trump once again made it clear that this was done to achieve a more flexible position in the negotiations from Kyiv: immediately after the commentary on the intelligence, he stated that he was “expecting good results” from the upcoming meeting of representatives of Washington and Kyiv in Saudi Arabia.
British representatives advised the team of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky on the eve of the meeting with the US delegation in Riyadh, writes The Times. This was done to prevent a new discord in the relationship of Kyiv and Washington.
According to the publication, including for this purpose on weekends Ukraine was visited by the adviser to the national security of the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Jonathan Paeull. According to The Times, Pavel recommended that the Zelensky team clearly make Trump to understand that Ukraine is ready to fulfill all US requests - and thus show that Russia is the main obstacle to the world. Officially, the content of the meeting of Powell and Zelensky was not commented, the President of Ukraine only wrote on social networks that it was “extremely productive” and that he was grateful to the UK for support.
The UK, writes The Times, also makes serious efforts so that the United States resumes the exchange of intelligence with Kiev. Prime Minister Cyrus Starmer discussed this with France President Emmanuel Macron and the Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte, and Powell - with Trump's adviser Michael Walz. In London, the resumption of intelligence assistance is considered as a more pressing and fulfilled requirement than the continuation of military assistance.
Negotiations in the United States and Ukraine in Saudi Gidd should take place on March 11. From the American side they will be headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, from the Ukrainian - the head of the president’s office Andrei Ermak. Zelensky himself today, March 10, is also flying to Saudi Arabia, where he meets with the crown prince Muhammad Bin Salman. He is not planned for official contacts with US representatives.
The publication of the Financial Times, citing sources, wrote that Kiev representatives at the meeting are going to offer a partial ceasefire, which will provide for a ban on mutual blows with drones and long -range missiles, as well as the refusal of hostilities in the Black Sea. US representatives, in turn, will evaluate Ukraine’s readiness for compromises, including, including on the territory, Reuters sources said.
Elizabeth (Moscow). I work as a psychologist and understand that people have changed over these three years. I remember how everyone “covered” everyone in 2022. Everyone had only one feelings - fear and anger. And what now, I ask myself. As if nothing is happening, those who were afraid for the future are now actively promoting their projects. They buy real estate, plan a vacation, get divorced, get married, give birth to children.
As for guilt and repentance as citizens of Russia, about whom they say so much, I personally do not experience it, and I think that I did everything that depended on me. I raised sons who refused to participate in hostilities, I know that they are against the killings of innocent people, like me.
Perhaps when the emotions settle down, we all together (Russians and Ukrainians) will restore the city who have lost our beauty, we will also once go to each other, visit the memorable places of our ancestors and honor the innocently dead, as well as heroes.
And of course I want peace, personally I have been waiting for him with hope for three years now, looking into the news feed every day. Unfortunately, both the war does not depend on me, and its ending - and this is perhaps the most regrettable.
