The Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Defense decided not to warn residents of the Moscow region about the largest drone attack

The district administration explains that in order to turn on the sirens, an instruction must be received from the authorities

The authorities of the Moscow region and federal departments did not warn residents of the region about the largest UAV attack since the beginning of the war. This is evidenced by the comments of residents in local public pages, Vorstka noted.

“At the time of the attack, there were no signals from the control authorities”

Residents of Vidnoye , Lyubertsy , Ramenskoye , Solnechnogorsk , Domodedovo , as well as the Leninsky urban district of the Moscow region complained about the lack of warnings about the attack.

“Why didn’t the warning systems work in Leninsky City?? This can save people’s lives if they are warned!!!,” one of the residents wrote under a post on the telegram channel of Governor Andrei Vorobyov.

Local officials decided to respond to her comment from the district administration account. They stated that both electric sirens and “siren-voice devices” were installed on the territory of the district, but for them to be activated, the administration must receive a signal “Increased readiness!” from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Defense.

“At the time of the attack on March 11, 2025. These signals were not received from the controls,” the message says .

It is noteworthy that five days before the attack - March 5 - warning systems were checked throughout Russia with the signal “Attention everyone!” — sirens and loudspeakers sounded in populated areas, and the broadcasts of radio stations and television channels were replaced.

The March 11 attack was the largest since the start of the war.

In total, the Ministry of Defense reported the downing and interception of 337 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory. According to the military department, most UAVs were shot down in the Kursk region - 126, another 91 - in the Moscow region, 38 - in the Bryansk region, 25 - in the Belgorod region, 22 - in the Ryazan region, 10 - in the Kaluga region, eight each in the Lipetsk and Oryol regions, six in the Voronezh region and three in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The greatest damage to the UAV was caused in the Moscow region. In particular, drones fell on the Miratorg parking lot in Domodedovo, as a result of which about 40 cars burned. Parking guards also came under attack there. According to the head of the Domodedovo city district in the Moscow region, Evgeny Khrustalev, as a result of the attack, three people were killed and another 18 people in the region were injured, including three children.

Due to the attack, temporary flight restrictions were introduced at Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky and Sheremetyevo airports, Rosaviation reported. At Sheremetyevo, restrictions were lifted by 09:00 Moscow time, at other airports - by 10:15.

The largest Ukrainian UAV raid on Moscow and the region coincided with negotiations between the US and Ukrainian delegations in Saudi Arabia . According to Western media, during these negotiations the United States intends to find out what concessions, primarily territorial, Ukraine is ready to make for the sake of a ceasefire. Then the US will present Ukraine's proposals to the Russian side. According to Bloomberg, Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff will visit Moscow again this week and may meet personally with Putin. Before this, Witkoff flew to Moscow on February 11 and took with him to the United States American citizen Mark Vogel , who was convicted in Russia in a drug case.
