At the Medusa specialist, Lilia Yapparov drew up a protocol on participation in the activities of an “unwanted” organization

Materials of an administrative case on the participation in the activities of an “unwanted” organization (Article 20.33 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) in relation to the special correspondent of Medusa Lilia Yapparova drew attention to the Mediazona.

What was the reason for drawing up the protocol is unknown. The court will consider the case on March 31.

The same protocol was drawn up against an expert on Russian nuclear policy Maxim Starchak. The case file entered the Nagatinsky court of Moscow.

Starchak gave comments “Medusa”, and also collaborated with “important stories”, The Insider and the Riddle project - all publications are declared “undesirable” organizations in Russia.

• The Prosecutor General of Russia declared Medusa an “unwanted” organization in January 2023.
• According to Mediazons, during 2024, Russian courts appointed 81 administrative fines to journalists and readers of independent media, which were declared by the authorities of the Russian Federation “undesirable” organizations. Among the publications, most protocols were on Medusa - 45 fines under Article 20.33 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Next are Radio Liberty (12 protocols), “rain” (nine protocols).
• According to “Mediazons” estimates, mainly courts appointed fines to journalists or experts who somehow participated in the creation of materials. Thus, the fines of participation in the “unwanted” organization were appointed “Medusa” journalists, including Andrei Peretsev, Elizabeth Antonova, Svetlana Reuters, Anton Khitrov and others.
