Among other topics that discussed Zelensky and Trump on the phone: the situation at the front, including in the Kursk region, the consequences of Russian strikes, the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense, the release of prisoners of war and the return of Ukrainian children, as well as the power supply of Ukraine and nuclear power plants.

According to Zelensky, he discussed only the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant with Trump, which at the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war was captured by the troops of the Russian Federation. The White House reported that Trump, in particular, said that the United States "could have great help in the implementation of these plans with their experience in the field of electric power and utilities." “American possession of these stations would be the best protection for this infrastructure,” said Caroline Levitt, press secretary of the White House.

At a briefing with journalists after negotiations, the Ukrainian leader noted that Trump asked if the United States could restore ZAES. “I replied that yes, if there is an opportunity to modernize, invest money and the like. In addition, Ukraine again confirmed that it supports the idea of ​​the United States about the "unconditional ceasefire on the front line."

At the same time, it is still unclear when a mutual pause begins to act in the blows of the energy sector, which the Russian Federation and Ukraine agreed, as well as which objects will be considered inviolable. So far, the parties continue mutual attacks, including on the objects of energy and civilian infrastructure , and also accuse each other of “a shortage of contractual capacity” and “propaganda”.

After a conversation with Trump, Zelensky also stated that they instructed their teams to “resolve technical issues regarding the implementation and expansion of a partial ceasefire”. According to him, Ukraine is going to prepare a list of its objects that should not be attacked. I judge simplifiedly, but for me a portrait of half of the fellow citizens [not allowing abandoning the territories] now looks like this: it is either a man of conscription, convinced that you can’t do a “one step back”, but at the same time successively avoiding the accumulations of TCC employees, or a person who does not threaten the call (women, large, elderly and so on) and who is easily ready to give their lives for the condemnation for conquering. Everyone would like to return their lands and punish the aggressor, but it seems that in fact, few people are ready to “take off” on the restoration of justice: the price, like the risk of failure, is too high.
