The Soviet dissident Alexander Skobov*, who met the 68th birthday in the pre-trial detention center, was sentenced to 16 years in prison in cases of justification of terrorism and participation in the activities of the terrorist community. The prosecution, recall, requested 18 years in prison.
Both the term for an elderly person actually means a lifelong conclusion.
Three posts in social networks with “justification of terrorism” and “participation in the activities of the terrorist community” (according to close to Skobov, we are talking about participation in one of the emigrant organizations) were blamed.
Skobov did not plead guilty, and used the tribune with which he condemned the Russian government and the president, including for announcing a special operation against Ukraine.
At a meeting of his son, his 90-year-old Mother Natalya Skobova went to the first Western District Court of St. Petersburg.
Even in the USSR, the historian Skobov twice underwent forced treatment for his “opposition” views.
