The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced the 36-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod Arkady Balchugov to a fine of 490 thousand rubles in the case of justification of terrorism on the Internet (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). This was announced by analyst Ivan Shukshin.
He was also banned for two years to administer Internet resources.
“Just a miracle that it was possible to achieve a fine, not a prison. I understand that I did nothing bad, but still such a result is pleasing against the background of what could be, ”Balchugov’s reaction to Shukshin’s sentence.
The reason for the pursuit of the man was posts on his closed page on VKontakte. In one of the publications there was his “opinion about Said Buryat”, and in the other - about Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
“Each honest person, regardless of nationality and views, should support Ukraine, located on the front edge of the struggle against the brutal Putin regime,” the post of Nizhny Novgorod Shukshin quotes.
The criminal case against Balchugov was opened in June 2024. He had a search at his house. FSB officers during investigative actions threatened the man with murder and physical violence.
“They brought it to the basement and kept several hours in a cold stone“ glass ”with dirty, as Arkady considered, from blood, walls, did not allow them to go to the toilet. After such a night, he signed everything that the FSB officers wanted, ”says Shukshin.
During the investigation and the court, Balchugov was under the subscription about the lower room. According to the Nizhny Novgorod, the reasons for his persecution are “that he is a supporter of the so -called pure Islam, and the regime is a liner and false.”
