The Russian military is preparing in the coming weeks to develop a new offensive in order to increase pressure on Kiev and strengthen the negotiation positions of Moscow, the Ukrainian military and analysts told the Associated Press (AP).
The interlocutors of the agency claim that the Kremlin is preparing for a multi -vector offensive along the entire front line stretched by a thousand kilometers. According to the analyst of Alexei Getman, Russia is preparing an offensive that should last from six to nine months - that is, almost the entire 2025.
On March 27, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky at the Summit in Paris warned that, according to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia is preparing for the spring offensive in the east of Ukraine - in the Sumy, Kharkov and Zaporizhzhya regions. The next day, he said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were preparing to invade Russian troops in the Sumy region. “It is not a fact that it will be, but we are preparing,” he said.
Zelensky associated the possible preparation of Russia for the offensive with attempts to delay negotiations with the United States and win time to capture new Ukrainian territories. With his assessment in an interview with AP, two diplomats from the countries of the "Big Seven" (G7) in Kyiv agreed.
The Ukrainian military see signs of preparing the Russian offensive in the fact that recently the Russian troops have strengthened attacks to improve their positions. In addition, Russia intensified reconnaissance missions to detect and destroy firing positions, unmanned systems and other defensive potential of Ukraine, which can interfere with the future, the article says.
Some Ukrainian commanders with whom AP talked are also concerned about the fact that Russia can transfer forces from the Kursk region to other areas, from where the Armed Forces of Ukraine had previously left. “It will be difficult. The forces of the Russians from Kursk will be on the rise from the victories won there, ”the commander of the Ukrainian battalion in the Donetsk region suggested on the terms of anonymity.
According to the Associated Press, Russia actually rejected the US proposal on a 30-day truce with Ukraine, and the ceasefire agreement in the Black Sea was in limbo, after the Russian negotiators nominated their conditions. The Kremlin said that they would agree to a truce in the Black Sea only after lifting sanctions from exporters of agricultural products and connecting the Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT system.
Cyril (Odessa -> Great Britain). From the first days of the war, I thought and continue to consider that the authorities of Ukraine must go to negotiation positions and negotiate with the Russian Federation.
For three years, the citizens of Ukraine have been injected into the heads of the idea: “Pauremor”, the borders of 1991, “We will be in the Crimea in the fall” - and other famous tales of the Zelensky team. I get the impression that people simply do not want to think and analyze what is happening, and simply repeat the statements of pro -government speakers.
The situation is formed so that every day the territories are becoming smaller, and there are more and more tragedies. Looking back, I realize that the refusal of the Zelensky team from the adoption of the Istanbul treaty [...] cost tens and hundreds of thousands of lives. Sign Istanbul - there would be no destruction of Mariupol, Bakhmut, the delivery of Ugled and Avdeevka, there would be no arrivals in Kramatorsk, Vinnitsa, Dnipro, Kyiv, my native Odessa. There would not be the lawlessness that is happening: from the actions of the TCC and medical examions, the permissions of especially zealous activists who are confused by the fellow citizens, and the murders of the same activists. We could not know all this and not even guess that this is possible, sign this Istanbul. The authorities disperse the horror story about surrender, equating surrender to the loss of vitality, but they forget that Minsk was surrender - and, by the way, life did not stop then. It follows that the only one who is losing is the current leadership of Ukraine - because they came to power, including by criticism of Minsk.
Alas, history does not accept the subjunctive mood, the conditions have become worse and, based on how the situation develops, I will allow myself to assume that the conditions will be even worse. I support the frost along the front line and the surrender of Crimea and Donbass, the territories without people mean nothing. The retention and maintenance of territories also requires the population, and in Ukraine and without war a demographic crisis, so it’s hard for me to imagine what and whom Ukraine can withstand these territories. I believe that the Zelensky government can do two useful things for the future future of the country: to sign the world with the Russian Federation and move away from power. If they remain in power after the end of the war, then do not hope for the long -term world.
