The authorities of Ukraine in the framework of peace negotiations will not agree to the Russian claim for guarantees of non -alignment in NATO in the future, said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrei Sibiga.
“There are fundamental things that Ukraine will not accept, and one of them is the impossibility of a veto of the third country on our desire to become a member of NATO,” the minister said. According to Sibigi, he told the allies about the fundamentalness of this position at the last meeting of the Ukrainian-NATO Council.
The minister noted that the alliance in the alliance for Ukraine is not a short -term goal, and admitted that it “has no consensus” on it, but emphasized that this in any case would not be connected “with the veto of another country, for example, Russia”.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly demanded that Ukraine abandon NATO membership; Different media, citing sources, wrote that for Russian President Vladimir Putin this is one of the key conditions of a peace agreement. After Donald Trump returned to power in the United States, the position on the non -alignment of Kyiv to the Alliance began to be publicly divided in the White House. Trump himself at the end of February said that Ukraine’s joining NATO “simply wouldn’t, because because of this it all began”.
On April 3, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky stated that the issue of Ukraine’s entry into NATO in the future “no one is cleaning from the negotiation table”, even if now “someone does not want to support it”.
In NATO itself, they hold the position that in the long run Ukraine can become a member of the alliance. At a meeting of the heads of the Foreign Ministry of NATO, on April 2, the organization confirmed that despite public statements from Washington, this position has not changed. “The allies said at the Summit in Washington that the path of Ukraine to NATO is irreversible. This decision remains in force, it remains the general policy of NATO, ”the Alliance secretariat said.
Russia should stop delaying the answer to the US proposal about the unconditional truce, said Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro, speaking at a joint press conference with the British Foreign Minister David Lammy.
According to Barro, Ukraine has already “made an important assignment” when it agreed to the idea of an immediate ceasefire. “Now Russia must give an answer to the US proposal. Whether this will be the answer “yes” or “no”, but it should be a quick answer, ”he emphasized.
The idea of an immediate and unconditional ceasefire for 30 days was nominated by US representatives in negotiations with Ukraine on March 11. Kyiv agreed to this, provided that the ceasefire would be mutual. However, in Moscow they did not give a specific answer: a few days later, Putin said that he supports the idea, however, before starting a truce, it is necessary to coordinate the details, in particular, the mechanism for monitoring compliance with the ceasefire.
Later, the United States first agreed with Russia, and then with Ukraine a decision on a partial 30-day termination of attacks on energy facilities. Since then, both parties have repeatedly accused each other of violating these agreements, while assuring that they themselves are observing.
Since the end of March, Washington was made to understand that they expect more specific actions from Moscow in the direction of the world. In particular, Donald Trump increasingly began to threaten Russia with sanctions - although he continued to declare his confidence that Putin would “fulfill his part of the transaction”. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, after the NATO summit in Brussels on April 4, stated that Washington would “soon understand whether Russia was pulling time or is really ready for a peace agreement. In his opinion, this will be a matter of several weeks.
Svetlana (Kharkov → Kyiv). I feel strong fatigue from the war from its first day. Life forever shared her before and after. Many acquaintances and friends parted, someone died, someone was missing, their native places are destroyed or continue to be destroyed right now, we have no opportunity to build long-term plans. The “interference” in the form of missiles and minedov has fit into his daily life, [the probability of perishing because of this] at the level with a car disaster: just know that this is possible and live on. Anxiety for his men takes a lot of vitality. I really want this hell to finally end. But even if active fighting ends now (which is still little like the truth, judging by daily attacks), for some reason I have no hope that this horror will never happen again while this cannibalic regime is in Russia.
I have a teenager son, and I am very afraid that in the future he will become the same hostage to his country as my husband this time. And this is the best scenario, I don’t want to write about the worst, but I also think about them all the time when I see how much this war was sown in our society. I really want the war to finally end, so that people to cease to die and cease to nightmare our men, but if the war ends this year, then I will not have a sense of relief or hope for normal life even in the near future. The leadership of Russia Gazlaitet and manipulates more than the rest, it is possible that the truce will be concluded only on paper, and if not only on paper, then I will interfere with life once in the early morning to wake up from the sounds of a new “treacherous” attack.
I did not find out about Ukraine over the three years of the war, all its “disadvantages”, unfortunately, did not become very surprise for me, they simply cause already familiar indignation. I have never had the illusions that I live in an ideal state, probably, ideal does not exist, but in general it was possible to live well - and we lived. [...]
