In a matter of days, literally everything was linked - from the meeting of Zelensky with Trump in the oval office to personnel from “cargo 200”. Gorky irony to this story is added by the fact that Miyazaki himself is a consistent adversary of AI, who owns the phrase: "This is a mockery of life itself." Republic asked Anton Valley*, one of the main fans of the director, to tell what all this means.

Of course, you came across cartoons from New Yorker magazine - rarely funny, but sometimes quite witty. Here is one of the last. A table for two in a restaurant, a girl with a surprised expression on her face and an iPhone in her hand looks at her interlocutor: this is a recognizable Totoro from the cartoon of Ghibli studio, a little bulging eyes. The girl’s replica is a signature for the drawing: “Wow, and I thought your photo profile is generated by AI.”

This is a meeting of a “real person” with fantasy, dream, cartoon miracle, is unlikely to accidentally reproduce the plot of “My neighbor Totoro” Hayao Miyazaki (1988). There, I remind you, two sisters, bored with the mother taken to the hospital, meet mystical creatures from a neighboring forest and make friendship with them. And at the same time, he refers to the mechanism of the enchanting influence of “imaginary friends”, which is naturally becoming even artifacts, but full-fledged heroes of pop culture, sinners on us. Jokes jokes, but who would not want to be on a date with Totoro, who will not bore you with meaningless ill -winging conversations (he is generally devoid of speech), but can teach you to fly?

The caricature was born of a Poetry who captured the whole world. Old and small, smart and stupid, educated and illiterate fill photos and frames from their favorite films at Chatgpt (its analogues quickly studied the same science) to get their “lined” versions at the exit. AI from a half -punch turns any cast of reality - genuine or directed - into a cozy frame from a non -existent cartoon of Ghibli studio, as if drawn with his own hand Hayao Miyazaki.
