In Moscow, security forces raided a bathhouse, abused visitors and detained several dozen people. Most of the detainees are citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
“The people inside panicked and started running away. We also ran. But they didn't let anyone out. Then they started beating everyone. You couldn't even see who was beating you. They didn't even let me raise my head. They had sticks and stun guns in their hands,” a witness of the raid told Radio Azattyk. According to him, the police beat them for about five hours, mocking the visitors and using torture: “They gathered us all in the kitchen. From there they separated the strong men. The thin and weak were left in one room. They took the bearded men into another room. They shaved off half of one guy's beard right there. When he resisted, they hit him in the face. We didn’t understand why they were beating us, they didn’t even ask for our documents.”
During the raid, 60 citizens of Kyrgyzstan were in the Moscow Bodrost bathhouse, Radio Azattyk reports . Later, security forces took them to different police stations, and many were given unjustified fines.
Zhogorku Kenesh deputy Zhanar Akaev demanded from the Russian authorities an official apology and compensation to the victims. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan presented an official note of protest to the Russian Ambassador. In it, the department requests the grounds for the operation by security forces and the use of violence on their part, demanding that measures be taken. Russian media reported that the reason for the raid was reports that the Bodrost bathhouse allegedly refused service to Russians, serving exclusively citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
Earlier, Moscow security forces staged a raid on conscripts in fitness clubs. They made the Spirit Fitness visitor face down on the floor, then separated them “by ethnicity,” arranged a document check and issued summonses to the military registration and enlistment office. Employees of the network of clubs note that now such raids are happening everywhere. According to the Baza telegram channel associated with the security forces, documents were checked only from people with a migration background.
In February in Krasnodar, masked security forces burst into a children's martial arts school as part of an anti-migrant raid. At that time, a lesson was being held there for children from 10 to 17 years old, who were laid face down on the floor. The security officer hit one of the teenagers in the face and stomach for refusing to lie down on the floor. Regional police called the raid a “preventative measure” carried out by the prosecutor’s office, the center for countering extremism (Center “E”), the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Rospotrebnadzor, the tax office and the military registration and enlistment office.
