“Although cultivated meat in small pieces or in the form of minced meat is easier to produce, it may not fully convey the fibrous texture and taste sensations that consumers with ordinary pieces are associated with ordinary pieces,” said Tokyo University, Shoji Takeuchi. He believes that the products created using this technology will appear in stores in 5-10 years.

The authors of the study explained that the main problem in growing artificial meat is the delivery of nutrients to muscle cells in thick layers of tissue. Because of this, many projects to create meat in the laboratory are engaged in the cultivation of pieces similar to minced meat.
In June 2023, the US Department of Agricultureallowed the sale of meat grown in the laboratory. Licenses for the sale of “cultivated chicken meat” were received by Upside Foods and Good Meat. Prior to this, the only country in the world where the sale of this product was allowed was Singapore.
