Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners. Ukraine transferred 261 people, Russia returned 277 people

On April 19, Russia and Ukraine conducted another exchange of prisoners. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said that the exchange was carried out according to the 246 on 246 scheme.

“Also, as a gesture of goodwill, 31 wounded prisoners of war were transferred in exchange for 15 wounded Russian troops in need of urgent medical care,” the Russian military department announced (quote for TASS).

All Russian military, said the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, while they are located in Belarus, then they will be delivered to Russia "for treatment and rehabilitation."

The exchange of prisoners, the Russian side noted, was carried out through the mediation of the United Arab Emirates.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported in his telegram channel that 277 people returned from Russian captivity. How many people were transferred to Russia in exchange, the president of Ukraine did not clarify.

Zelensky also confirmed that the exchange was conducted about the mediation of the UAE.
