The Bittsev maniac, or the “killer with a chessboard”, was operating in the south-west of Moscow. As the court established, Pichushkin committed the first murder in 1992, but the main series, another 47 murders and 3 attempts, fell on the period from 2001 to 2006.
Pichushkin got acquainted with people, most often they were drinking people, and invited to take a walk in the Bittsevsky park. There he treated them alcohol, bringing them to a helpless state, and killed. The main instrument of murder was a hammer.
Alexander Pichushkin was born in 1972 in Mytishchi. Mother - Natalya Pichushkina, father left the family when he was ten months old. In 1976, Pichushkin, together with his mother, moved from Mytishch to the Zyuzinsky district of Moscow, to Kherson Street, not far from the Bittsev forest park.
After moving, Pichushkin, as a result of an accident, received a head injury-fell from the swing. According to the mother, after what happened at Pichushkin, speech disorders appeared, he confused letters and sounds. In addition to a comprehensive school, he studied for some time in the 138th speech therapy boarding school, then in vocational schools on a carpenter. He did not serve in the army. According to the media, after an examination at the military registration and enlistment office, Pichushkin was aimed at short -term treatment in one of the Moscow psychiatric clinics. In 1989, Pichushkin settled down in a grocery store. In the same period, he began to abuse alcohol. Subsequently, Pichushkin earned money from time to time, for example, either a loader or a seller.
On June 18, 2006, Pichushkin, by this time the seller, was detained on suspicion of killing the saleswoman of the same store. Her body was found on June 14 in a stream in the Bittsev Forest Park. The examination found that the woman was killed, hitting the head with a blunt object.

According to official figures, the investigators went to Pichushkin by the number of his phone, which a woman, going for a walk in the forest, left relatives just in case.
After the court arrested Pichushkin for ten days, he stated that he was a Bitsev maniac. And he committed 61 murders, of which 60 were on the territory of the forest park. And in total, he was going to kill 64 people - according to the number of cells on the chessboard.
At first, investigators were skeptical of the testimony of Pichushkin. They doubted the adequacy of the maniac, calling him "a crazy chess player." According to investigators, Pichushkin, due to some personal reasons, stipulates himself, possibly due to a mental illness or desire to “become famous” in this way. Subsequently, Pichushkin showed the places of committing crimes and the place where he hid the bodies of the people he killed. There were no more doubts: it is he.
On October 24, 2007, the jury college unanimously found Pichushkin guilty of the murder of 48 people and three assassination attempts for murder. The jury also considered that the accused does not deserve condescension. As noted by the media, the defendant himself claimed that all his crimes were not taken into account, and he had 11 more victims. The lawyer on the appointment stated that the defendant pleaded guilty in full. On October 29, 2007, on the basis of the jury verdict, the Moscow City Court sentenced Pichushkin to life imprisonment in a special regime colony. In addition, the court decided to send him to forced psychiatric treatment at the place of serving the sentence.
To date, Pichushkin has already served for 18 years. According to the current law, after 25 years of serving the term, the sentenced to life has the right to file a petition for parole. As we already wrote , the Bittsev maniac seriously expects to be released, where "the first thing he will kill someone."

“In general, this is a common practice, when a life-condemned person suddenly admits some kind of crime,” the investigator of the Moscow City Prosecutor's Office, who took part in the investigation of the crimes of Pichushkin, told the “New Evrop”. - After all, after new confessions, the bodies are required to conduct investigative measures. And this means that the prisoner from the colony should be delivered to the scene of the crime and transferred during the investigation from the colony to the pre -trial detention center. During the initial investigation, Pichushkin became famous for trying to take on murders that he did not commit. Then he thought better of it and, apparently, seriously hoped that he would be released. He was silent for 18 years - and suddenly a loud “confess” again. I am more than sure that we will not find new evidence to Pichushkin’s words. But now, even after 25 years of imprisonment, he does not threaten to release. It is possible that he was just tired of sitting in the “polar owl”, and he wants to transfer to another colony.
The life-long period “Bitsevsky maniac” is serving in a colony for life-convicted IK-18 “Polar Owl” in the village of Harp. “New Europe” managed to contact one of the prisoners of the infamous IK-3 (“Troika”), neighboring the “polar owl” (IK-18), in which Alexei Navalny died.
- Nobody doubts here that Navalny was killed, they argue only about who ordered this to do this. The first three months after February 24, it was not possible to take a break from all kinds of commissions here.
Now there are fewer guests, but they still appear. So there is still no calm life. When guests are in the colony, all informal agreements are canceled, and the protection is carried out strictly by law. And this, of course, does not like the prisoners or security.
The first-because of the impossibility of getting at least some kind of relief. The second-due to the impossibility of getting additional earnings. And besides, more than half of the personnel of Vertukhaev has changed. And new ones - all under the constant supervision of Moscow commissions and informal relations do not go. And this greatly complicates the life of prisoners. The Polar Owl is actually located on the territory of our Troika, so there are also twisted nuts there. It is possible that it is with this that everyone is looking for reasons to dump.
According to some reports, which have not yet been confirmed or refuted, applications for transfer to other colonies submitted about a third of the prisoners of the “polar owl”. There are no official confirmation of these rumors.
