The FSIN submitted to the Minusinsk City Court an idea of the release of the invisible Crimean Alexander Sizikov, sentenced to 17 years in prison. This was reported by Crimean Solidarity with reference to his mother and lawyer.

Sizikov was taken to prison of Minusinsk at the end of February. In March, he was examined in the Krasnoyarsk Tuberculosis Hospital No. 1. Doctors confirmed that it was completely blind, and also diagnosed hypertension of the III degree. In connection with complete blindness, the hospital recommended the release of the prisoner.

As Muslim’s mother Elena Sizikova told the “Crimean solidarity”, in the hospital her son was treated “with sympathy and humanly”. “He said that there [compared to other institutions] you can move freely,” she added.

In July 2020, Alexander Sizikov was detained in the case of preparations for armed seizure of power (Article 278 of the Criminal Code with the use of Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code) and the organization of the activities of a terrorist organization (part 1 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Criminal Code of the Criminal Code). Together with him, residents of the Bakhchisarai district of Crimea Alim Sufyanov and Seyran Khaydenov were detained. They were accused of preparing for the armed seizure of power and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization (part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). The court sent both to the pre -trial detention center, and Sizikov appointed house arrest.

In May 2023, the Southern District Military Court sentenced Sizikov to 17 years in a maximum security colony with serving the first four years in prison. Sufyanov and Khaudinov were appointed 12 years in prison. On September 13 of this year, the Appeal Military Court in Vlasikha approved the verdict. The day after that, the police took Sizikov from the house and after a while placed in the SIZO-1 Simferopol.

  • The Islamist Party “Hizb Ut-Tahrir” was recognized in Russia as a “terrorist organization”. Its participants are accused and sentenced to real terms only on the basis of the fact that they met in apartments, read religious literature and recruited new participants. According to the project “Support for political prisoners. Memorial ” , the party was recognized as“ terrorist ”in Russia unlawful. The research center “Owl” believes that its ban was not deprived of the grounds, but the persecution due to involvement in this party, in the absence of accusations of other terrorist crimes, often leads to the appointment of disproportionately severe punishments.
