In Smolensk of the region, the justice of the judicial section No. 33 in the city of Dorogobuzh sentenced the student Andrei Kushnev to 100 hours of compulsory work in the case of an attempt to burn the Bible. He himself told the OVD-Info about this.

The young man was found guilty under the article on attempted insulting the feelings of believers (part 1 of article 148 of the Criminal Code using part 3 of article 30 of the Criminal Code).

Kushnerev was detained on February 11, 2024, when he is arson of the Bible in a wasteland in the village of Verkhnedneprovsky, Smolensk region. In a conversation with the ATS-Info, Kushnerev explained his action with disagreement with the concept of the Russian Orthodox Church, the participation of the Church in the affairs of the state, as well as the fact that the Russian Orthodox Church supports the war in Ukraine.

A traffic police building was located near the arson, and a police officer detained it. Kushnerev was kept 10 hours in the traffic police building, they seized the phone from him, and then sent to the IVS.

Two days later, the Dorogobuzhsky District Court arrested the student for ten days under the article on disobedience to the police officer (part 1 of article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Subsequently, a criminal case was opened against Kushnerev, appointing him a non -departure subscription.

During the investigation and the court, he was appointed a forensic psychological and psychiatric examination. He was on an outpatient clinic, and then on a stationary examination.
