Eating in “ultra -laid” food increases the risks of premature death. At the same time, the growth of consumption of such food is proportional to risk growth. Scientists came to this conclusion by analyzing the research data, the participants of which were more than 240 thousand people, CNN reports .
“We examined the risk of the death of those who eat in the ages of 30 to 69 years old, when death is considered premature,” explained the co-author of the study, an honorary professor of the Department of Power and Public Health at the Brazilian University School of Paulos Augusto Montairo.
“We found that with every 10%increase in the total number of calories consumed from ultra-laid products, the risk of premature death increases by almost 3%,” he said. Previously, Montairo formulated the definition of “ultra -laid” food, which is now used by experts.
So, “ultra -laid” is considered food that does not contain or contains few whole products at all, but is made from “chemically processed cheap ingredients” using “synthetic additives that make it edible, tasty and addictive”.
Earlier, the authors of another study came to similar conclusions, the results of which were published in February 2024. According to scientists, the data they received convincingly prove that people who use “ultra-laid” products in the risk of death, including from cardiovascular diseases, turned out to be 50% higher.
