Representatives of the LDPR party held a May Day rally in the town of Kotelniki near Moscow, where many migrants live. At the rally itself, the protesters held anti-migrant posters, one of which read “Suitcase! Railway station! *****!” — the last word probably stands for “Fuck!”
The rally was also attended by party leader Leonid Slutsky, who in 2018 was accused by several journalists of sexualized harassment, but managed to avoid prosecution.
A message appeared on the official LPDR Telegram channel saying that on Labor Day the party cannot “ignore such a pressing problem as discrimination against Russians in the labor market.” “Our state welcomes guests and friends. However, our hospitality should not take the form of uncontrolled migration. The LDPR continues to guard the rights of Russian workers,” the party’s Telegram channel says. In addition, in the publication, party members called for the introduction of anti-migrant laws that would complicate their employment in Russia: a lifelong ban on entry into Russia for foreigners with a criminal record, obliging migrants to take an exam in the Russian language and Russian history, limiting the length of their stay in hotels and hostels, prohibiting them from changing jobs without notifying the authorities, and prohibiting migrants from transporting their families to Russia.
