Vladimir Zelensky introduced sanctions against Alexey Arestovich

The former adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine left his post at the beginning of 2023 and left the country

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky imposed sanctions against the former adviser to the head of his Office, Alexei Arestovich. In total, 76 people and one company were included in the restrictive list of Ukraine.

Arestovich served as adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine until the beginning of 2023. Before this, he suggested that the Russian missile, which hit a residential building in the Dnieper on January 14, 2023, was shot down by the Ukrainian air defense system.

After leaving office, Arestovich left the country and began to actively criticize Zelensky.

Criminal cases were opened against Arestovich after statements about women and the Russian language

In Ukraine, two criminal cases have been initiated against Arestovich. In one of them, the former adviser is accused of promoting violence after speaking about women at one of his closed seminars.

In 2023, Verkhovna Rada deputy Inna Sovsun filed a complaint against Arestovich with the police. The reason was a video in which the ex-adviser made unflattering comments about women.

In particular, the former adviser to the Office of the President called women “creatures” who “you want to strangle.” “At first, of course, you want to fuck her, and when you get tired of it, or get used to it, or have eaten enough, then you want to fucking strangle her so that she never exists,” said Arestovich. He himself denied the accusations and said that the statement was a joke.

The second case was initiated under the article of perjury after a conflict with Verkhovna Rada deputy Natalya Pipa over the Russian language.

Pipa made a remark to a teenager from Odessa who was performing Viktor Tsoi’s songs in Russian on the street in Lviv. The musician responded by insulting Pipa, after which she contacted the police.

Soon after the conflict, Arestovich contacted the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine and accused Pipa of inciting ethnic hatred. In response, about 30 deputies filed a police report against Arestovich for falsely reporting a criminal offense.

In Russia, criminal cases have been opened against Arestovich under articles of calls for terrorism and the dissemination of so-called fakes about the Russian army.

Earlier, “Verstka” reported that Alexey Arestovich announced his intention to nominate his candidacy for the post of President of Ukraine. Arestovich spoke of the desire to implement “a broad state project instead of the UPA [Ukrainian Insurgent Army] dugout,” implying, among other things, respect for the Russian language and Russian-speaking Ukrainians.
