The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Germany classified the party “Alternative for Germany” (ADG) as “a convinced law-facility”-due to the extremist nature of the whole party, which ignores human dignity, the press release of the department said .
The Federal Office has been working on the ADG assessment for several months, but at the federal level it has still passed by the category of “suspicion of right -wing extremism”. The status obtained now means that the whole party is considered unconstitutional, explains Der Spiegel. This reduces the barriers to observe the party using intelligence and allows you to listen to phones and recruit informants, the newspaper writes.
The political scientist and head of the Russian programs of the Friedrich Foundation Ebert, Alexov, notes that we are not prohibiting - the status of a “law -facility party” gives the police the right to apply extensive mechanisms of wiretapping and observation. “If nothing is clarified in this process with the criminal composition, then there will be no consequences,” writes Yusupov.
The department for the protection of the Constitution notes that "the understanding of the people based on ethnic origin", which prevails in the ADG, "is incompatible with the main free democratic order." For example, the party does not consider the Germans "with the history of migration from mainly Muslim countries equal members of the German people."
The Office for the Protection of the Constitution distinguishes between three levels of observation: “Pre -check”, “Suspicion” and “Proven extremist trends”, Tagesschau explains . In 2019, ADG was classified as an object of preliminary verification. At this stage, the department had the right to only collect and analyze public statements by representatives of the party.
The decision of the federal department, as Tagesschau writes, is a significant tightening of the assessment, although it was not a complete surprise.
