Ilham Aliyev refused to go to the parade on May 9 to Moscow

The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will not fly to Moscow for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was announced by the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Yuri Ushakov.

He previously said that 29 leaders of foreign states, including the President of Azerbaijan, were invited to the Moscow Parade on May 9 to Moscow.

“There was such a message that Aliyev would not arrive, unfortunately. They explained so that he should take part in internal events dedicated to Heydar Aliyev, ”Ushakov said in a commentary to Life journalist Alexander Yunashev.

• Relations of Russia and Azerbaijan were cooled after the aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines, which was from Baku to the Russian Grozny, crashed in Kazakhstan in December 2024. The cause of the crash of the aircraft, according to the media, was the Russian air defense system.
