On April 29, 2025, a text that became part of the International Victoria Project was published in Ukrainian Pravda. The project was attended by the leading world media, and the Parisian editorial office of Forbidden Stories was the initiator. They continue the case of journalists who died, were behind bars, or were persecuted for their professional activities.
After on October 10, 2024, information appeared about the sudden death of the Ukrainian reporter Victoria Roshchina in Russia, colleagues from thirteen media different countries undertook to investigate the circumstances of her stay in pre -trial detention center number 2 of Taganrog. The body was returned to Ukraine not immediately, but after a while, in a mummified state, with remote eye apples, the brain and part of the larynx, with a broken pry -language bone. According to forensic scientists, they do this when they want to hide traces of strangulation.
DNA analysis conducted at the request of relatives confirmed: yes, this is Vika. The murder of a reporter with a grove, a categorical, desperate, infinitely devoted profession, once again put a choice before the whole world: simply swallow the fact that Ukrainian prisoners in Russia fall into new Guantanamo, or confront this.
The team of investigators announced the fifty interviews with those who survived the Russian captivity and know the system from the inside, with their relatives, about the documented stories of four former jackets, ready to give certificates of conditions and practices in places of imprisonment, about expert comments of eight Russian human rights activists about human rights violations. I drew attention to the epithet "otherworldly", which was used several times in the material. Here, the word carried, in my opinion, an additional semantic load: men and women passing through hellish torment on the other side of the border.
The other day, on the air of the Espresso television channel, the main editor of Ukrainian Pravda Sevgil Musaeva recalled:
Civil prisoners are kept in 186 prisons in Russia and in temporarily occupied territories. “In 29 of them, torture is used, cruel, inhuman. What I heard and my colleagues forces me to shame the blood in my veins,
- said Sevgil. - The dogs were placed on people, they were undressed and left alone with prison dogs. They plunged into a bath with ice water until they began to fight in convulsions. They hung up their feet, beat them with a stouter shocker, thus knocking out confessions. ”
“Some prisons are practiced the following,” continued Musaeva. - People are given human bones so that they “play” with them. I personally heard this from lawyers who protect our citizens there. In other cases, people are forced to lie down in an iron coffin and beat with sticks on it ...
On the day when the investigation of Victoria Project was published, human rights activists from the MIPS, the “media initiative for human rights”, the Ukrainian non -governmental organization, presented their report on the system of relations to prisoners in the Russian Federation. The report was based on evidence of the forty former prisoners of war. Only the geography and location of prisons or camps varied - “otherworldly” hell spread throughout Russia.
“Our military, who are returning from there, are actually the only witnesses of crimes in relation to civil prisoners,” Maria Klimik, a documentary analyst, drew attention to the attention. - Civil ones are not so often freed, and torture is used the same, indiscriminately. Paul, age, physical condition does not matter. For example, "acceptance", an exceptionally harsh appeal in a new place. And if you take into account that the Ukrainians are being transferred all the time, and there can be six, eight, even twelve ...

The sailor, the fighter of the first separate marine corps battalion, Ivan Dibrov (he returned on the exchange on January 15, 2025 as part of a group of seriously ill -painted prisoners), managed to avoid the tragic fate of Victoria Roshchina. Tuberculosis, the loss of 35 kilograms of weight, the body, where, it seemed, there was no living place after blows with batons, metal rods, fists and berets for Ivan did not end in death: the guy was lucky. Now the 24-year-old Dibrova, whose body trained by sports was restored by strength, tried to tell in detail not only about himself, but also about the twin, remaining in conclusion, in Vyazma.
Ivan was captured on April 12, 2022, he defended Mariupol. The first “acceptance” was held in the occupied territory, in Elena, Donetsk region, the very colony, where in July 2022 a terrorist attack was arranged with an explosion and a fire,-the mass extra-court execution of the Azovtsy with Azovstali.
- Russian troops stood in two lines, fifteen people on each side. In their hands they have belts with buckles, chains, sticks. And command "running!" You run to the end, knock down and still hit the ground for some time, ”said Ivan.
- Not jailers, namely the military?
- Yes.
The next "acceptance" took place in Sukhodolsk in the Lugansk region. And then - plastic screeds to everyone in their arms, wrapped their faces with tape, and drove to the airfield:
- They put, sorry, cancer, on the elbows and knees. They beat the back with a stouter shocker to move faster, and many wounded. So they drove to the transport aircraft. Dogs jumped, grabbed us, bit. The lads shouted, - Ivan's voice sounds smooth.
He will remember the movement on the elbows and knees more than once. It seems that this was considered the norm: physical suffering did not work without humiliation.

In Vyazma, they began with the fact that twelve hours stood in the basement on the elbows and knees. For interrogations, they pulled one at a time. The remaining people heard screams, but could not even move: plastic bundles still crashed into swollen hands. The turn has reached the Dibrova:
“They thwarted tape, I see - two healthy, two meters, military personnel and a representative of the administration in the blue pixel. They put it on the wall, pounded with a rubber club on the back. They turned his face, and on my chest I have a tattoo, wings, a symbol of freedom. "Fascist, Nazi!" They knocked on the floor. One military man stepped on his head with his 45th size, the other attached a stun gun to the genitals, to his feet. I turned off three or four times, doused with water, and everything is new ...
They put it on the stool, continued to strike in the chest, "on the wings", which caused special rage. They threw it into a cold shower - wash away the blood. But here they did not let them rest. The military man went with a stamper: I wanted to check how the current “interacts” with water running through the body.
They issued a robe and a mattress. The representative of the administration grabbed the neck and began to strike with his foot in the stomach and in the chest from all its best:
"Tell me, even though we know everything about you!" They took fingerprints. The medic and a special forces soldier again beat the genitals with a stigmer shocker. Finally, they led to the camera and ordered to learn the anthem of Russia until tomorrow. Such "acceptance" ",
- concluded Ivan.
The next thirty months of the captivity did not differ in special diversity. Verification, beating, standing on the legs of 16 hours a day, the endless anthem of Russia, pages with the text “Military Glory of Russia” and “Crimes of Bandera”: to memorize and retell. And periodic meetings with recruiters from the FSB. In the so -called Bogdan Khmelnitsky battalion, "re -educated" Ukrainians were selected.
According to Dibrov, very few agreed to cooperate, those who broke physically, desperate, and wanted to get out of hell at all costs.
“Five people died from diseases and torture,” Ivan recalls. - Then they brought the next party, tormented, with an open form of tuberculosis. We all lived together, and I got infected. They tried to bring us to an animal state: with cancer they brought us to minute walks in the corridor, stepped on the fingers on their hands and legs. And the fingers are already crippled, rot, Gangrene begins.

On my birthday, they made a gift: beaten the kidneys, urinated two weeks with blood. But this is not the worst. When you hear screams, how others torment, such adrenaline in the blood is so scary! They are sadists. At first, the lads were just beaten, then put on a chair, beat the genitals and cut off one egg ... Only one jailer turned out to be such that he said: “I don’t want to mock, we are people!” But he quit, ”the story, despite the external calm, is given difficult.
- Representatives of the prison administration, FSBSHNI, investigators, and military police took part in torture. Therefore, we are not dealing with excesses of individual performers, but with the state policy of Russia, ”the documentary analyst Maria Klimik brings.
Each new exchange of prisoners expands the ideas of human rights defenders about what is happening with Ukrainian prisoners in Russian prisons. There are over 8 thousand people there, including 1600 civilians. And in the register of missing under special circumstances, as of mid -April 2025, 63 thousand people are located .
