The court sent Popcorn Books and Individuum under house arrest

Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow sent under house arrest the ex-director for sales of Popcorn Books and Individuum publishing houses Pavel Ivanov, warehouse manager Artem Vakhlyaev and executive director Dmitry Protopopov. It is reported by the "first department".

At the same time, Protopopova asked the investigation to be detained.

According to the plot of the prosecution published by the “first department”, the investigation believes that Ivanov, Vakhlyaev and Protopopov were aware of the recognition of the “international movement of LGBT” extremist. The trace of the Russian Federation stated that the accused "out of mercenary motives published and sold books that promote the activities of the LGBT movement, <...> an unlimited circle of persons, including minors."

“According to the investigation, the“ unidentified person ”was in Moscow and knew that the“ Society ”unrealized by investigators has unrealized books on LGBT-Tematics, which were planned to be implemented in order to make a profit,” lawyer Maxim Olenichev quotes the details of the plot.

The investigation considered the involvement of the “extremist organization of LGBT” the very fact of reading the LGBT literature by other people who, after that, could supposedly become “supporters of the“ international public movement of LGBT ””.

“According to the investigation, at least eight women in this way were“ involved ”in the activities of a non -existent organization. According to investigators, for such a goal, the leadership of the “society” (publishing house) attracted subordinate workers (which the investigation could not establish at the time of initiation of a criminal case) to implement books among the “unlimited circle of persons,” Olenichev added.

The whole criminal case is built around business processes, the lawyer emphasized. The investigation considers extremist activity the fact of the spread of LGBT literature.

“Formally, not a single Quir-book is recognized as“ extremist ”in Russia. As a crime, investigators blame the defendants to the massive distribution of Quirry literature in order to involve the “LGBT international public movement” in the activities of the “International Public Movement”, ”said the lawyer of the“ first department ”.

On May 16, human rights activists from the “first department” with reference to the case file clarify that, according to the investigation, the “LGBT ideology”, which was allegedly distributed by the defendants in the case.

So, "LGBT ideology", the security forces believe, contributes to:

- the formation of readers of the “attractive image of non -traditional sexual relations and preferences”;

- “ideologies of complete moral equivalence” “non -traditional and traditional sexual relations”;

- legalization of same -sex marriages;

- the possibility of adoption and raising children with same -sex couples;

- The conviction that such ideas are attractive and acceptable.

The “first department” also noted that the investigation at the court asked to send all the defendants in the case under house arrest. At the same time, the UK first first wrote that the investigation was going to petition for the conclusion of all the defendants in the case, and then only Protopopov.

• On the evening of May 14, the employees of the publication Eksmo, Popcorn Books and Individuum, the security forces came with mass searches. They detained about 10 people, among whom, in addition to Ivanov, Vakhlyaev and Protopopov, were the chief accountant of the publisher of Eksmo Inessa Nurtdinov and the director of the distribution department Anatoly Novyytkin.
• The press service of the publisher said that Norovyatkina was released after interrogation as a witness. Nurtdinov, according to the Cheka-OGPU, was most likely also released without charges. In the case of publishers, more than 1 thousand copies of books were seized, the RF IC said .
• After the searches, the exmo sent a letter to bookstores with a request to “dispose” or returning back the publisher with the nearest supply of 48 books. 47 of them were released under the Popcorn Books brand, which published books with the mention of Quir-loves.
• In January 2023, Popcorn Books became the first publishing house to have an administrative case of the LGBT Propagand. This happened after a complaint of deputy Alexander Khinshtein to draw up books of the publishing house. The new business, according to the First Department, was initiated at the initiative of the Main Directorate for Economic Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
