Three arrested, Magomed, Khalid and Zaur Magomedovs, did not admit guilt. They claimed that weapons, cartridges, grenades and a bomb were thrown by them.
The first meeting in the case of a terrorist attack in Dagestan is scheduled for May 21.
On June 23, 2024, five people fired at Orthodox churches and synagogues in Derbent and Makhachkala, and also attacked police officers. In total, 27 people were killed as a result of the attack: 17 employees of law enforcement agencies, five terrorists and five civilians, including Archpriest and Rector of the Orthodox Church in Derbent Nikolai Kotelnikov.
In July 2024, the court in Makhachkala arrested Magomed Omarov, whose son was killed as a participant in the attack. The official is accused of fraud and money laundering. Before the attack, he acted as the head of the Sergokalinsky district. The wife of Magomed Omarov was detained in the case of embezzlement and official forgery.
