The US presidential administration Donald Trump plans to sell the Wilbur J. Cohen federal building in Washington, which houses the headquarters of the Voice of America (VOA). This was reported by Bloomberg.
According to the agency, a building located two quarters from the Capitol is included in the list of real estate, which federal authorities want to get rid of.
The building area exceeds 90 thousand square meters. In addition to the headquarters of the Voice of America, there are also the US agency in global media (USAGM), which includes VOA, and the Ministry of Health and Social Services.
Due to the sale of the building, employees and contractors of the Voice of America may be left without a workplace even if VOA can achieve restoration of funding, noted Bloomberg.
RFE/RL and the Voice of America stopped broadcasting in mid -March, after the US agency in global media froze a grant allocated to the work of journalists. The publications are trying to challenge the refusal of financing in the courts.
