The basis for the liquidation was that the party allegedly has not participated in the elections for the past seven years.

“We consider this decision to be purely political related to the opposition position of the party, which sequentially defending liberal and democratic values ​​and human rights,” the report says.

The Civil Initiative emphasized that since the creation in 2013, she repeatedly put forward candidates for elections of all levels, including the presidential election in 2018 and 2024. A year ago, presidential candidate Boris Nadezhdin was refused registration, despite 250 thousand collected signatures for his support.

Also, the members of the Civil Initiative, the next calendar period of seven years, calculated from the moment the party registration, expires in 2027.

“The liquidation of the party in the middle of this year deprives us of the opportunity to participate in elections on a single voting day of 2025 and in subsequent elections,” the party notes.

In his channel, the chairman of the St. Petersburg branch of the Civil Initiative, Andrei Sklyarov, said that the team of supporters of the association in St. Petersburg would continue, even if the party is liquidated.

“And, I assure you, we will also declare ourselves. Those foci of active people with experience will not go anywhere and sooner or later will grow. No matter what sign and flag I go, my values ​​and ideas remain unchanged. And if the idea lives in the heads of people, then it is impossible to fight with it, ”wrote Sklyarov.
