The Croatian midfielder and captain of Madrid Real Madrid Luka Modric announced that he would leave the club after the end of this season. He wrote about this on Instagram.

On Saturday, May 24, the 39-year-old Modric will play the last match at the home stadium of Real Madrid, Santiago Bernabeu.

“I arrived in 2012 with the hope of putting on a T -shirt of the best team in the world and ambitions to do great things, but I could not imagine what would happen next. The game for Real Madrid changed my life as a football player and as a person. I am proud that it has become part of one of the most successful eras of the best club in history. <...> We won everything, and I was very happy. Very, very happy. But besides titles and victories, I carry in my heart the love of all the fans of Real. I really don’t know how to explain the special connection that I established with you all, and what support, respect and love I felt and continue to feel, ”Modric wrote.

In his post, he noted that he would play for Real Madrid at the World Cup World, which will be held in the summer of 2025 in the United States.
