A document has appeared on the website of the US Ministry of Justice, which says that the American company Rathmell Short LLP will advise the head of Rostec Sergei Chemezov on administrative and legal issues.
According to RIA Novosti sources, close to the state corporation, this may be due to Washington's plans to lift sanctions from Chemezov. “They discovered it today. This is the initiative of the American side, which launched the process of consideration and decision -making on sanctions measures in relation to the leadership of the corporation, ”said one of the interlocutors of the agency.
As another source of RIA Novosti from government agencies noted, the document has a signature of a consultant and lobbyist, close to US President Donald Trump. “It can be assumed that a campaign is being carried out on the part of the Trump administration to withdraw from the sanctions of senior Russian leaders in order to continue working and business,” he said.
“Rostec” greeted the US efforts to relieve sanctions from the head of the state corporation - this will restore previously suspended cooperation, the publication says.
At the same time, the document does not say any participation or initiative of the United States as a state. It is discussed that Sergey Chemezov and his subordinate Vasily Brovko hired American lobbyists in order to achieve the relief of sanctions, notes the new newspaper Europe. Robert Stryk - the head of the company Sonoran Policy Group, involved in the provision of services, is one of the most successful lobbyists during the first presidency of Trump.
In the course of talking about the world between Russia and Ukraine, there was more than once a proposal to relieve sanctions from Moscow. In particular, this was required by the Russian side. Kiev also reported that it was not against the gradual lifting of sanctions in the event of a number of conditions of the Ukrainian side. Trump's position on anti-Russian sanctions is ambiguous: recently, according to Reuters, the US president “loses patience and is disappointed” by Vladimir Putin due to deadly shelling of Ukrainian cities, and his associates are pushing him to tighten the sanctions. At the same time, the EU consistently opposes the abolition of any anti -Russian restrictions.
