A resident of the occupied Energodar was sentenced to 25 years in prison

The Southern District Military Court sentenced a resident of the Ukrainian city of Energodar Vadim Trachuk to 25 years in prison in the case of attempting to the head of the occupying administration of the city Andrei Shevchik, Mediazona reports on Tuesday.

According to the publication, 41-year-old Trachuk was found guilty of international terrorism, attempt on a terrorist attack, participation in the terrorist community and in a number of articles. He will have to spend the first five years of punishment in prison, the remaining 20 - in a maximum security colony. In addition, he was a fine of 700 thousand rubles.

According to the prosecution, no later than March 2022, a resident of Energodar "decided to become an active participant in the Ukrainian intelligence community. Around the same time, he allegedly received the task of killing Andrei Shevchik using an explosive device. As a result of the attempt in May of the same year, Shevchik and two of his guards were harmful, Mediazon reports with reference to the press service of the court.

Trachuk is also charged with preparations for the attempt on the deputy director for personnel of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant in April 2023. Then, as noted, Trachuk was abducted by FSB officers.

The case was received by the Russian court in June 2024. Before the criminal prosecution, Vadim Trachuk worked as a driver of the ZAES transport workshop.
