Among the Russian military aircraft destroyed or damaged in airfields as a result of the attack of Ukrainian drones on June 1, there could be at least two A -50 -50 -radar detection and control aircraft. This is claimed by journalists Jimmy Rashton and Michael Weiss. They wrote on social networks X independently from each other that they watched a video in which drones during the attack on June 1 amaze these aircraft.
While this video has not been published, journalists do not report what its source is. Judging by the context, it can be assumed that it was shot by Ukrainian special services.
A-50 are used during Russia's invasion of Ukraine. According to media reports, in the service of the Russian army, there have recently been only 6 of these aircraft produced in Soviet times. Two of them were shot down during the fighting and another seriously damaged at the airfield in Belarus. If the messages about the destruction of two more A-50 are confirmed, this will mean that Russia has only four such aircraft that, in particular, are used to control planes of fighter and shock aviation when they are brought to air, ground and marine targets.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Tuesday officially stated that "after processing additional information from various sources and its verification," it may confirm that during the operation, on June 1, Russia lost "41 military aircraft, including strategic bombers and other types of military aircraft."
Particularly published satellite pictures and videos confirm that at least 12 aircraft were destroyed or damaged. So far, additional evidence of the destruction of a larger number of aircraft has not been presented. The Russian military admits that the planes were amazed, but do not call their number.
It is reliably known about the damage or destruction of aircraft at two strategic aviation bases - in the Murmansk and Irkutsk regions. Drones, attacking airbase, flew out of cargo vans located near the bases.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the attack on the strategic airfields of Russia with the help of drones was a special operation of the SBU. “A completely brilliant result. An independent result of Ukraine. A year, six months and nine days from the beginning of planning to effective implementation. Our most long -range operation,” wrote the President of Ukraine in a telegram after a meeting with the head of the SBU Vasily Malyuk. The Russian Ministry of Defense called the incident "terrorist attack."
