The participation of Yana Rachinsky in the conference on Stalinism was canceled

Yeltsin Center in Yekaterinburg excluded from the organizing committee of the International Conference "History of Stalinism" of the human rights activist and chairman of the Memorial International Society Yana Rachinsky.

According to Rusnews, Rachinsky was invited to a conference, which will be held from June 19 to 22. However, his name disappeared from the list of conference participants published on the Yeltsin Center website . Also, Rachinsky is no longer mentioned as a member of the organizing committee of the conference.

Against the arrival of a human rights activist in Yekaterinburg, a number of pro-government telegram channels were opposed. His invitation to Yeltsin was called the “provocation”, the center itself is called a “dangerous anti -state project”.

Earlier, the presidential envoy to the Ural Federal District Artem Zhogacalled for adjusting the Yeltsin Center for the "more patriotic" and no longer invite people who have an anti -Russian position. At the same time, he called Yeltsin the center "a good platform."

On May 23, the Ministry of Justice of Russia included Yana Rachinsky in the register of "foreign agents". Jan Rachinsky repeatedly opposed the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In January 2023, it became known that the UK began an audit against Jan Rachinsky under an article on the rehabilitation of Nazism. The reason for her was the post of Rachinsky on Facebook, in which he assigned responsibility for the beginning of World War II both to the Nazi regime in Germany and the Stalinist regime in the USSR.

  • The Memorial human rights center was recognized by the Russian authorities "ino-agent" in 2014, and the "International Memorial" in 2016. On December 28, 2021, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation liquidated the International Public Organization "Memorial".
  • On October 7, 2022, the Nobel Committee awarded the Memorial Prize of the World.
