The Supreme Court of Russia canceled the appeal decision on the verdict of ex-employees of the Irkutsk pre-trial detention center Maxim Wolf, Andrei Melentiev, Maxim Danchinov, Evgeny Shadayev and Andrei Moskvitin, who were previously found guilty of organizing the torture of the prisoner Kzhik Ondar. This was announced by the correspondent of Sotavision from the courtroom.
In January 2025, the Fifth Court of Appeal softened the charge to former FSIN employees in excess of authority (Article 286 of the Criminal Code) for negligence (Article 293 of the Criminal Code). In connection with the replacement of qualifications, the accused facilitated the punishment-instead of a period of four to five years in a colony of general regime, two years were appointed in a colony-settlement.
Given the time spent in the investigative insulator, the court of appeal released all the ex-employees of the insulator to freedom.
The Supreme Court in a cassation decision canceled the verdict to the employees of the FSIN and sent their case for re -consideration to the fifth court of appeal. The accused, as Sotavision notes, will “remain at large” during the process.

In April 2024, the Fifth Court of Appeal returned the case of torture by the prisoner to the prosecutor's office. The lawyer of the victim Dmitry Dmitriev suggested that the FSIN employees would “justify”. Later it became known that the prosecutor's office did not find a “causal relationship between the causal consequences and actions of the pre-trial detention center,” said human rights activist Svyatoslav Khenkov.
