The Prosecutor General’s Office recognized the German legal entity Echo and the American ASEEES Association “undesirable” organizations

The Prosecutor General’s Office recognized the “unwanted” organizations “Association of Slavic, Eastern European and Eurasian Studies” (ASEEES) and Radio Echo GmbH, follows from updating the list of “undesirable” organizations on the Ministry of Justice’s website.

The Radio Echo GmbH legal entity is associated with the online radio and online edition of Echo and registered in Germany, and ASEEES in the USA. According to the ministry, the Prosecutor General's Office made a decision on the ban on organizations in Russia on May 12. Then the department recognized the “undesirable” Vienna Institute of Humanities.

“The Association of Slavic, East European and Eurasian research” was founded in 1984 - the organization studies the policy, history and culture of the countries of the former USSR and Eastern Europe. With the support of ASEEES , large scientific conferences are held. The Association headquarters is located in Pittsburgh.

The online publication and radio "Echo" appeared on the basis of the Echo Moscow radio station liquidated by the Russian authorities in 2022, after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The head of the Echo became journalist Maxim Kurtnikov.
