Serbia President Alexander Vuchich first came to Ukraine

Updated. Vuchich did not sign a joint declaration of the summit, Serbian journalists said . Vuchich himself added that no one “exerted pressure” on him. He explained that he did not sign the declaration, because its text contains the requirements of sanctions against Russia. The declaration condemns Russian aggression against Ukraine ”and includes calls for additional sanctions, the withdrawal of Russian troops, the support of Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO and the creation of a special tribunal for Russia.

On June 11, President of Serbia Alexander Vuchich arrived in Ukraine on the first official visit from the beginning of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war.

The purpose of the Vucich’s visit is to participate in the Southeast Europe summit, the presidential administration of Serbia said. The trip will last one day. The visit was not announced in advance.

In the course of his introductory speech at the summit, Vucich said that Serbia was ready to help in the restoration of one or two Ukrainian cities or regions in order to “clearly demonstrate support to Ukrainians”. He also emphasized that Belgrade supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

The Southeast Europe Summit is held in Odessa. It is devoted to security issues, in particular in the Black Sea, the press service of the President of Ukraine reported .

• 55-year-old Alexander Vuchich has been the post of President of Serbia since June 1, 2017. The Serbian president is considered a supporter of Russia. In May 2025, Vuchich visited Moscow for the first time since the beginning of the war, where he took part in the military parade on May 9.
