The Investigative Committee began checking the “Orthodox polygamist” Ivan Sukhov after the words of his daughter Anna about harassment by her father. This was reported by Moscow Children's Ombudsman Olga Yaroslavskaya.

Anna Sukhova, speaking live on the Let Them Talk program, said that she had been harassed by her father since she was 14 years old. According to the Ombudsman, Sukhova, who is now 19 years old, has not yet filed an official statement with law enforcement agencies, but the investigation has begun anyway.

Sukhova said that the first time her father committed indecent acts on her was when she was 13 years old. He took her with him on vacation and forced the girl to touch him.

Sukhova claims that after some time her father began to harass her again, but a month after the incident he said that his daughter had made up this story.

According to Sukhova, the father also committed indecent acts against other daughters, one of whom was 12 years old at that time. Anna Sukhova herself ran away from home at the age of 14.
Sukhov called the charges against him fabricated.

Ivan Sukhov gained fame after an interview with journalist Sasha Sulim in December 2024. He said that he lives in a 70-meter apartment with three wives and 14 children. Anna is his daughter from his first marriage, whom her mother sent to her father “for re-education.”

The text was prepared by working groups of both houses of parliament; the initiative was initially approved and promoted by the Chairman of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko. The ongoing process was unexpectedly stopped by President Vladimir Putin. The law, which could have protected against abusers, was blocked by the influential hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church.
