The Internet disappeared throughout Iran

In Iran, Internet access was almost completely disappeared. This was reported by Netblocks, monitoring the freedom of the Internet in the world.

The vast majority of Iranians have no access to the network from about 17:30 local time (16:30 Moscow time). Traffic was reduced to about 3% of standard consumption.

The reasons for the incident are still unclear.

• On June 13, against the background of attacks from Israeli, Iran’s authorities announced a partial restriction of access to the network, explaining this to the danger of potential Israeli cyber attacks. Then the volume of Internet traffic in the country was reduced by about doubled.
• In 2019, against the backdrop of mass protests, Iran’s authorities almost completely turned off the Internet in the country. Then traffic was reduced to 5% of the standard.
