The National Intelligence Service of Argentina (Side) found in the country five Russians who performed “suspicious tasks” aimed at supporting the geopolitical interests of Russia. At the same time, the performers were in “close contact with the Argentines”, said press secretary of the country's president, Manuel Adornie. It is reported by La Nacion.
According to Adorni, the Russians are part of the structure associated with the Russian government called the "company". Argentina’s authorities connected this structure with the Lakhta organization, headed by Evgeny Prigozhin, who died in August 2023.

“The goal of the [Russians] was to form a group of people loyal to Russian interests to conduct campaigns on misinformation and influence on the Argentine state,” the press secretary said.
He also called the names of two Russians: one of them was Lev Konstantinovich Andriashvili, who was the leader of the espionage network and “was responsible for financing and developing ties with local collaborators” together with his wife Irina Yakovenko.

The network’s tasks included, according to Adornie, “the creation and dissemination of content on social networks, the impact on local non-governmental organizations, the creation of focus groups with Russian citizens and collecting political information for use in the interests of Russia”.
The press secretary said that the authorities have additional information, but it was classified as a state secret. La Nacion notes that Adornie did not specify where the Russians are now and whether they were detained. At the same time, according to TASS, the Russian embassy sent a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina to find out the legal status of Russians accused of “suspicious activity”.
