The court in Kaliningrad has appointed 7 years to a citizen of Uzbekistan, accused of an attempt to illegally move to Poland and join the Legion of Freedom of Russia

The Baltic Naval Military Court has appointed seven years of imprisonment to a 34-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan Kallibek Esenia, accused of trying to join the Liberty of Russia legion, Mediazone was told in court.

The first three years, Eseniazov will have to leave in prison, the remaining term in a maximum security colony.

He was found guilty of an attempt to participate in an organization recognized as terrorist (part 3 of Article 30, part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code).

As his lawyer Julia Luchitskaya told Mediazone, Esenia "recognized everything, repented." She refused other comments.

According to the prosecution, the Esenias “enemy of the special military operation” tried to get into Ukraine several times. In September 2023, he flew from Armenia to Moldova, but the local border guards returned him back. Then, in early May 2024, he tried to get to the Ukrainian embassy in Istanbul, but he was not allowed by the guards. He later turned to the Ukrainian embassy in Tashkent, but there he was not helped with his entry into the legion.

Subsequently, according to the press service of the court, he received instructions from recruiters, flew in July to Kaliningrad, from where he was going to illegally cross the border and get to Poland, bordering Ukraine, but was detained.

According to information in merged bases, at least in 2019, a man worked in Moscow with a courier.
