The Office of the Investigative Committee in the Voronezh Region opened a criminal case against unidentified employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard, who in the spring were beaten during the detention of activist Alexander Zheltukhin. The security forces are accused of excess of official powers with the use of violence, committed by a group of persons (paragraphs “A” and “G” of part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code).

Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard came with a search to Zheltukhin early on the morning of April 22. Then he was in the mother’s house in the village near Voronezh. According to the activist, he tried to escape through the roof, but fell from the height of the second floor.

Voronezhets asked the security forces to provide him with medical care, but instead they put handcuffs on his hands. In addition, Zheltukhin told human rights activists that he was beaten, strangled and tortured with an electric shock, demanding that he call a password from the phone.

After this, the man continues, he was taken to search in the Voronezh apartment, and from there to the local center "E". During the interrogation, according to Zheltokhin, he was again beaten and tortured with an electric shock. The security forces were interested in information about the telegram channel "Free people of Voronezh."

In the afternoon, Zheltukhin was released in the status of a witness in the criminal case of “discrediting” the army (Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code) and calls for extremism (part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code) against activist Grigory Severin .

Human rights defenders clarify that doctors diagnosed eight ribs, chest injury, fractures of the cribs, multiple abrasions and bruises, as well as rupture of the eardrum of the eardrum.

In addition to Zheltukhin, the security forces came to the six Voronezh activists that day. They seized all the equipment from them, some told that they were beaten.
