The head of the Azerbaijani diaspora of the Moscow Region Elshan Ibragimov was deprived of acquired Russian citizenship. The video in which the policeman reads Ibragimov a certificate from the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Moscow Region yesterday posted an anonymous telegram channel “Operational Summers”.

According to the policeman, whose face was shy on the video, Ibragimov was deprived of citizenship on June 18 for “committing actions that create a threat to the national security of the Russian Federation” (the publication of RBC subsequently brought the same data, but at the same time referring to a certain unnamed source).

Ibragimov confirmed Oxu.az to the Azerbaijani publication that he was deprived of citizenship, and promised to give a detailed comment a few days when he arrived in Azerbaijan.

The last passport of Ibragimov, which appears in data leaks, is listed as invalid in the “State Services” database, the agency notifies notes.

The 58-year-old Ibragimov headed the Azerbaijani diaspora of the Moscow Region since 2018 (formally it was registered as the “regional national-cultural autonomy of Azerbaijanis” and is part of the “Federal Autonomy” since 1999). In 2018, Ibragimov was one of the proxies of the Governor of the Moscow Region Andrei Vorobyov in the elections, and also entered the Public Chamber of the Moscow Region (after deprivation of citizenship, his page was deleted from the website of the chamber).
