Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov and the Ministry of Justice sent a claim to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation on recognizing the “international movement of Satanism” by an “extremist” organization. This was reported by the Prochrevskoye Agency of RIA Novosti with reference to the Ministry of Justice's website. According to RIA, the consideration of the lawsuit of the Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor General of the “international movement of Satanism” “extremist” and its ban in Russia is scheduled for July 22.

In early April, the State Duma held a round table "to counteract the spread of satanism and other destructive cults and ideologies in Russia."

The head of the executive committee of the Movement “Cultural Front of Russia” Vyacheslav Leontyev noted that according to the results of the working group, it is planned to introduce changes to the laws on freedom of conscience and trade.

Andrei Kartapolov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, stated that “both Satanism and everything connected with it should be considered as a direct threat of statehood”: “In the end, we recognized the ideology of LGBT and adopted laws that do not allow it to spread. Satanism is no better. He is worse, he is more aggressive, he is more human rights. ”

Patriarch Kirill advocated the recognition of the “international movement of Satanism” “extremist”, said Fedor Lukyanov at the same time, chairman of the Patriarchal Commission on Family, Protection of Maternity and Childhood, in April. He also stated that the “LGBT movement” and “Satanic movement” are interconnected.

In turn, the head of the Destructor Laboratory of the MGLU Roman Silantyev noted that the recognition of the movement of an “extremist” organization “will further take the ban on more dangerous movements, including Wahhabis and Marxists”.
