The Panaetidi family Anna, Vasily and Olga, as well as Nadezhda Rybalkina, the descendants of the Greeks expelled from the Krasnodar Territory during the mass deportation of 1942, achieved victories in court and have already received payments for lost apartments.
This is the first case of success in the court of people of the Gulag Children category.
Officials in different ways and until the last tried to challenge the right of Panaetidi for living space or to live the amount of the recovered compensation.
For example, they underestimated the standard of square meters per person and reached the amount of compensation, two times lower than the required. According to officials, since all the plaintiffs have one surname, they could only apply for one housing - for all. The lawyer of the plaintiffs, Ivan Kalgin, managed to prove that the law cannot consider the plaintiffs of Panakaetidi one family - only minor children, parents and spouses are considered to be a commonality in the Russian Federation.
The second obstacle to obtaining compensation was the persistence of the Ministry of Labor of the Krasnodar Territory about the fact that the plaintiffs did not observe the rule of return "to the same places where they lived to repressions." So, in the case of Pan, the father of the family, they were deported from the village of Severskaya, and they themselves live in Novosibirsk. The lawyer Kalgin referred to the definition of the Constitutional Court that neither registration nor the registration of children of victims of repression in their native places matters - they should be put on housing everywhere.
The plaintiffs had the status of victims of political repressions, which gave them the right to reimburse property lost to the USSR.
The case of Panaetidi is important for all "children of the Gulag." But in the courts their claims are moving differently. In April 2025, the Moscow City Court, for example, allowed the Moscow City Hall not to buy housing to the victim of political repressions Elizabeth Mikhailova - the daughter of a resident of the Moscow district of Vykhino, a Soviet official, supposedly repressed for "participating in an anti -Soviet organization."
The New Gazeta told how the children of the victims of the Stalinist repressions spent half his life in the courts, trying to fully restore their civil rights. Read the material "My number 54 thousand of some ..." .
