The US President refused to give details of how he would force the Kremlin to sign an agreement with Ukraine

US President Donald Trump, in an interview with the BBC, again stated that he was disappointed with the actions of Vladimir Putin, but has not yet stopped dialogue with him. “I don’t trust almost anyone,” Trump replied when asked about his trust in the Russian president.

“We're having a great conversation. I say: okay, we seem to be getting closer to a solution. And then he takes and demolishes another building in Kyiv,” Trump said.

According to the US President, despite polite telephone conversations, Moscow ignores Washington’s peace proposals and continues to strike Ukraine.

The US president refused to give details of how exactly he wants to force Putin to conclude a peace agreement with Ukraine. Trump limited himself to the phrase: “We are working on it.”

Trump on the role of NATO and European support

In the interview, Trump also signaled that he had reconsidered his position on the NATO alliance. If he had previously called it "obsolete", he now said that "when NATO starts paying its bills, it becomes more effective."

According to Trump, European countries, including Germany, France and Spain, respect his position and support increased defense spending. He also noted the importance of collective security. “It allows small countries to have protection from larger ones,” the American president noted.

Trump asked Zelensky about strikes on Moscow and St. Petersburg

According to the Washington Post, Trump, in a personal conversation, asked Vladimir Zelensky why Ukraine would not strike Moscow and St. Petersburg. In response, the Ukrainian president recalled that this requires appropriate weapons. However, White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt, commenting on Trump’s statements about the strikes, said that the US President did not call for an attack on Moscow and St. Petersburg, but simply asked Zelensky a question.

The publication also claims that Trump is considering the possibility of transferring Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine and allows permission to use ATACMS on Russian territory.

While the supply of these systems has not been officially confirmed, the decision has been postponed, the publication says.

Earlier, “Verstka” reported that the United States is considering the possibility of sending long-range JASSM missiles to Ukraine, with the help of which the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be able to strike deep into Russia - at a distance of up to 1000 km.

Today, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, commented on the US ultimatum: “It was 24 hours before, it was 100 days - we went through all this, and we really want to understand what motivates the President of the United States,” Lavrov emphasized. According to the minister, Trump is acting under “huge, indecent” pressure from the EU and NATO, which continue to arm Kyiv.
