Israel: "To be a minority in Syria is extremely dangerous"

Israel expressed serious concern to the position of ethnic and religious minorities in Syria against the backdrop of a sharp escalation of violence in the province of Es -Suyid. According to the Syrian monitoring center for compliance with human rights, more than 900 people have died there in recent days, including women, children and medical personnel. Local sources also report abductions and extrajudicial executions.

"In Syria, under the control (new president of the country), ASh-Sharaa is a representative of the minority-whether it be Kurd, Friends, Alavit or Christian-it is extremely dangerous. This has been repeatedly confirmed over the past six months," said Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar.

At the beginning of the week, fierce clashes between the Druzkaya community and the armed formations of the Bedouns-Sunnis broke out in Eswood. Against the backdrop of these events, the Israeli Defense Army (IDF) inflicted a series of air strikes in the positions of the Syrian government forces in the southern part of Syria and in Damascus. Israel accused the Syrian troops of participating in extrajudicial reprisals and repressions against the Druzky population of Syria, emphasizing that the actions of the IDF were aimed at protecting this community.

In response to the protests of the Israeli Druzov against the events in Syria and taking into account the humanitarian situation, Israel promised to protect the Syrian Druzov. At the same time, according to Reuters, the Israeli authorities temporarily allowed the limited return of the Syrian internal security forces to ES Suyida for 48 hours.

The UN Human Rights Office demanded that there are reports of mass reprisals, and the Office of the UN Supreme Commissioner for Refugees-to ensure humanitarian access to the province of Eswood. According to the UN, about two thousand families were forced to leave their homes.

Israel called on the world community to take steps to ensure the security and rights of minorities in Syria and connect any forms of international recognition of the current Syrian leadership with the fulfillment of these obligations. The United States does not support the strokes of the IDF on Syria and calls for compliance with the ceasefire.
