At Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, rest areas have been set up for passengers whose flights have been delayed or cancelled. People began to be given mattresses. Anna Zakharenkova, director of public relations at the airport, reported this to TASS.

“At Sheremetyevo Airport, along with information and free distribution of water, airport employees provide all possible assistance to passengers, including organizing rest areas and issuing mattresses for passengers,” she explained.

According to the Baza telegram channel, mattresses are primarily provided to families with children.

Zakharenkova added that the airport is currently operating as normal, without restrictions.

Russian airports restrict flights amid Ukrainian drone attacks

Against the backdrop of Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine, Moscow airports - Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky - have repeatedly introduced restrictions on the departure and reception of aircraft due to drone attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This led to widespread flight delays and cancellations, affecting thousands of passengers.

Media and telegram channels published photos and videos from airports. The footage shows passengers lying on the floor and sleeping on lawns.

The Sheremetyevo administration reported that a number of telegram channels and blogs are distributing videos and photographs of a provocative nature, allegedly demonstrating a massive gathering of people in the halls of the airport. The administration emphasized that some of the published footage was taken at other airports, and when filming and editing the video, such angles are specially selected “to exclude the opportunity for the audience to assess the situation objectively.”

The collapse at Russian airports has continued since May

Since the beginning of May, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have sharply increased the intensity of UAV attacks deep into Russia. Because of this, dispatchers have to close the airspace to civil aviation. Thus, drone attacks before May 9 disrupted the work of more than 20 airports in Russia.

The situation became especially critical in July - the height of the summer holiday period. Thus, more than two thousand flights were canceled and delayed at Russian airports over the weekend of July 5–6. The most difficult situation was at Pulkovo and Sheremetyevo , thousands of passengers could not fly from there. And on the weekend of July 18 and 19, more than 300 flights were delayed at Russian airports. In particular, restrictions were introduced at all four Moscow airports - Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky.
