The Ukrainian military did not confirm this. Germany insists on new supplies of air defense systems

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the defeat on July 21 in Ukraine of three launchers of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system and an American-made AN/MPQ-65 radar.

In addition, according to the Russian defense department, strikes were carried out on ammunition depots, a drone assembly shop, a mobilization center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and temporary deployment points for Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries in 142 districts. Operational-tactical aviation, attack drones, artillery and long-range missiles, including Daggers, were used.

On the same day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that they had intercepted most of the shells and drones, as well as hit three targets by the enemy. The Ukrainian military did not provide details.

Germany will give Kyiv two Patriots from its reserves

Against the background of the ongoing war, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, at a meeting of the Ramstein group on military assistance to Kiev, said that Ukraine needs at least five Patriot complexes . Germany will transfer two complexes from the Bundeswehr reserve.
The publication Der Spiegel clarifies that Berlin offered to pay for the purchase of two more Patriots from the United States, but the transfer was delayed, so the existing arsenal will be used. Norway agreed to pay for another installation.

Pistorius said Germany actually had six working Patriot batteries left, with some already deployed to Ukraine or stationed in Poland. Chancellor Friedrich Merz discussed the issue of supplies with US President Donald Trump , who promised to transfer 17 systems to Kiev, but insists that Europe pays for the supplies.

How effective is Patriot?

According to Ukrainian and Western sources in Military Watch Magazine, Patriot systems in Ukraine are increasingly unable to intercept Russian ballistic missiles, especially Iskander missiles. These missiles maneuver on the final part of their trajectory, bypassing guidance systems. Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Igor Ignat also acknowledged problems. “Iskander,” according to him, makes sharp maneuvers, which makes interception difficult.

The Wall Street Journal's interlocutors also report that Russian missiles have received modernization. The publication notes that the United States will improve the Patriot systems, but it will take time.
