The former governor of the Tambov region Maxim Egorov was detained in the case of receiving a large -scale bribe (part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by Kommersant , RBC and TASS with reference to its sources.
According to Kommersant, the ex-official is charged with receiving bribes totaling 80 million rubles. The newspaper claims that Egorov bought a car worth about 11 million rubles, and also paid an agreement for a new apartment in Moscow for 51 million rubles, which was issued for the mother of the former head of the region.
“Egorov’s wife was building a country house, the bribe taker financed the construction and paid her debts in the amount of 2.6 million rubles. Then, for two years, he paid for the maintenance of a country house of 250–450 thousand rubles per month, ”Kommersant writes.
According to the publication, the criminal case against Egorov was the testimony of the former general director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Tambov LLC Roman Stefanov, who was detained in the case of maintenance of drugs on a large amount (part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code) in March 2025.
“The top manager of the company paid for the vacation of the Maxim Egorov family in Crimea. Bribes were paid for general protection and connivance on the service, the investigation believes, ”Kommersant writes.
The investigation intends to transfer the ex-governor to Moscow and then send him to the pre-trial detention center.
Maxim Egorov headed the Tambov region from October 2021 to November 2024. Prior to that, he worked in the structure of the Federal Ministry of Construction as the main housing inspector.
As the Agency notes , Egorov became the fifth ex-governor, who falls under criminal prosecution after the outbreak of war in Ukraine. When he resigned, he promised that he would engage in “new tasks” at the federal level, but did not receive any public purpose.
