One of the Siberian battalion fighters also believes that Gerasimov himself could refuse to sign the contract after the unit suffered heavy losses in August 2024. The other military also asked to transfer them to other battalions. The leadership threatened to put them in a migration prison and deport them to Russia.

In August 2024, Gerasimov really sent foreigners to the temporary stay point. After some time, the court decided to expel it. The student expected to sit in a migration prison until the end of the war or to leave for one of the countries of Europe.

In May 2025, following the results of Istanbul agreements between Ukraine and Russia, a large -scale exchange of prisoners and civilians took place. Also, Alexei Gerasimov fell into it. The fighters of the Siberian battalion believe that this did not happen because of the "evil intent", but as a result of confusion in the migration service of Ukraine.

Moreover, according to one of the probable witnesses, Gerasimov himself could write a statement that he was exchanged. The former colleague of the young man said that a few days before sending to Russia, he deleted messages in messengers.
