The leaders of Thailand and Cambodia agreed on the "immediate and unconditional" ceasefire. This was announced by Prime Minister of Malaysia Anvar Ibrahim following negotiations on July 28, which took place in his residence, BBC News reports.
The ceasefire will enter into force at midnight on July 29 (20:00 on July 28 by Moscow time).
Prime Minister Cambodia Hun Manet called the negotiations “very good”, noting that their result will give hundreds of thousands of people on both sides the opportunity to return to normal life. According to him, now the right time "to begin to restore trust and confidence in the future between Cambodia and Thailand."
The acting head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Thailand Phumtham Vecham said that negotiations were "in the spirit of goodwill", adding that Thailand is committed to the world.
